Delivering fresh starts since 2022

Eagle's garages carry more than cars. Between the acreage properties north of Beacon Light, the big three- and four-car garages in neighborhoods like Two Rivers and Banbury Meadows, and the steady run of new construction across Eagle's dozens of active subdivisions, garages here end up doing double duty as storage for everything that doesn't have another home.

A garage cleanout in Eagle usually means one of two things: a homeowner finally reclaiming space they haven't parked in for years, or a move-in/move-out where boxes and leftover building material piled up fast. Either way, it's a job that goes faster when the access and the sorting are planned out before a crew shows up.

Getting a Crew Into Your Garage

Eagle lots vary a lot, and that changes how a cleanout gets staged. A long gravel driveway on an acreage property north of Beacon Light is a different load-in than a shorter paved drive in Lexington Hills or a gated entry in Two Rivers or Banbury Meadows.

If you're in a subdivision with an HOA, it's worth checking your covenants ahead of time for any rules on parking a truck or trailer in front of the house, even for a short window. A few things make the job smoother no matter where you're at:

  • Move vehicles out of the garage and driveway so the crew has a clear path to load
  • Walk the garage first and set aside anything you're keeping in its own corner
  • Note any stairs, side doors, or narrow gates the crew needs to use instead of the main door
  • If you're on acreage, flag any loose gravel, slopes, or soft ground near the load-out area
  • Let the crew know in advance if a dumpster or trailer will need to sit in the street, since Eagle's roads fall under ACHD right-of-way and a container parked there can require a permit

What Usually Fills Up an Eagle Garage

With so much new construction across Eagle right now, a lot of garage cleanouts in newer subdivisions turn up leftover building material from the build itself: scrap wood, extra trim, packing material from a move-in that never got broken down.

On the acreage and horse-property side, garages often end up holding overflow from the barn or shop: old fencing material, tack room extras, and tools that don't have a permanent spot. Older sections of Eagle, including the homes around Downtown and State St, tend to have more years of general accumulation: paint cans, holiday decorations, and sports gear that's outgrown the kids who used it.

Not everything needs to go in the truck. Usable lumber, tools, and furniture are often worth setting aside for a donation pickup. Scrap metal and clean wood can typically be recycled rather than landfilled, and that's worth sorting for before anything gets hauled.

Where It Goes From Eagle

Most general junk and construction debris from an Eagle garage cleanout ends up at the Ada County Landfill at Hidden Hollow, off Seamans Gulch Road in the North Boise foothills, a short drive east of Eagle via Hill Rd or Highway 55.

The landfill takes scrap metal, clean wood, and concrete separately from regular trash, and charges a fee for tires and for appliances that still have Freon in them. Treated or painted wood doesn't qualify for the clean-wood diversion pile, so it gets sorted and handled differently. Household chemicals and old paint are better suited for the landfill's household hazardous waste days or Eagle's own quarterly collection event at the West Eagle Park & Ride, rather than going in with general debris.

That sorting is also why some items don't belong in a Hardin Sanitation cart. Hardin's curbside bulky pickup is a good fit for furniture and most appliances, but it won't take Freon units, tires, batteries, or electronics, so those need a separate plan either way.

A little prep on access and a little sorting on the front end makes an Eagle garage cleanout go a lot smoother, whatever's been piling up in there. If you want a free estimate, Boise Junk Removal is happy to take a look and walk you through it.
